Tektronix, a leader in Test & Measurement, began redesigning their oscilloscope line to move away from a design focused on numerous physical controls and small non-touch screens. The new design features fewer physical controls and larger touchscreens, with the 5 Series MSO Mixed Signal Oscilloscope debuting this redesign in 2017.

In 2018, the 6 Series MSO Mixed Signal Oscilloscope was introduced, offering higher bandwidth measurement capabilities. While it built on the design and features of the 5 Series, the 6 Series includes unique physical features to distinguish it from its predecessor.
